Our goal is to make your infant's first transition away from home easy and natural for both the baby and parents. In an effort to reduce anxieties when a new infant starts we encourage families to spend some time with them in the infant room until both have become accustomed to the new environment. Infants have a flexible schedule of simple and consistent routines that are altered to meet their individual needs. Young & Unique recognizes the importance of infants having responsive adults who recognize and meet their needs in a nurturing and consistent manner. Every infant is assigned a primary caregiver to ensure individual attention is given. The children will also form trusting bonds with the other caregivers in the room. All of our caregivers are cognizant of the importance of establishing a stable relationship through which trust and security are gained.
Daily sheets are sent home to keep you informed of your infant’s day. Our infants are never left in their cribs while awake. Rather, our caregivers make sure baby’s awake time is spent out of the crib where they will stretch and cuddle, push and pull, and experience sights and sounds to learn about their bodies and the world around them. Our caregivers enjoy using language with the infants through engaging them in dialogue, singing and reading stories to them. Our curriculum provides opportunities for the infants to socialize, explore, and discover while our high standard for care ensures that they are loved and cared for unconditionally.
The older infants in our Infant Room begin to master their bodies and their environment as they crawl, waddle and walk. In addition, fine motor development such as grasping and manipulating objects opens up a whole new world for these babies! Since children learn primarily through play, the equipment and toys have been carefully selected by our team of experienced educators to ensure they are age appropriate, safe, and purposeful. Our caregivers have been trained to implement a program with a balance of nurturing, playing and learning throughout the day. They understand that their interaction, conversations and give-and-take play contributes immeasurably to the baby's development. They naturally interact with children by teaching songs and words, lessons of cause and effect, and safe interaction with the world around them. They are committed to ensuring the development of confidence, self-esteem and a love of learning.
Toddler 1 & Toddler 2
Our Toddler program provides a balance between toddlers conflicting needs for security and independence. Young & Unique provides a safe, responsive, and consistently supportive environment for toddlers to master walking, running, and other gross and fine motor skills. The toddler classrooms are designed to encourage independence and socialization. Here, they begin to establish friendships, self-help skills such as dressing themselves and eating with utensils, and their language skills develop rapidly! Toddlers begin to show a genuine interest in other children but their play is characteristically parallel rather than interactive. Our teachers are trained to guide them through choosing an activity that interests them and then allowing them to explore independently. They gain confidence by using their words and thoughts to interact in a group setting. Their day is filled with hands-on activities that are engaging and interesting to them. Our toddlers are assigned primary caregivers to assist with all of their individual needs and their schedule is still based on their unique feeding and sleeping schedule.
Toddler 3 & Jr. Pre-K
Our program for 2 to 3 year olds is designed to focus on the continued development of social skills and education fundamentals. The 2 to 3 year old toddlers are acquiring and enthusiastically using many new skills- most notable are language and motor control. Here, the children begin to recognize their "school" as an environment filled with friends and opportunities for exploration. Daily small group instruction focuses on self-help skills and allow for individual teachable moments. We strive for a perfect balance of nurturing, learning, and playtime by combining fun and engaging activities with quality care. Children are exposed to a variety of activities designed to reach every kind of learner. At this age, play is still characterized as parallel rather than interactive but social skills are nurtured through their growing independence and self-assertiveness. We provide a supportive and safe environment in which new skills can be practiced and mastered and where frequent, enthusiastic praise encourages further exploration. Our 2 -3 year olds are assigned primary caregivers to assist them with essential, everyday needs as the schedule becomes more uniform. They have many activities to choose from such as building, painting, sand and water play, play dough, and housekeeping, etc.
Pre-School & Pre-K
Our Preschool/ Pre-K program marks an exciting time for these almost "school-aged" kids! The classroom is designed to provide an environment that is conducive to social interaction and observation that leads to discovery. Language acquisition helps increase peer interaction among this age group making them more socially aware than younger children. They will begin to share and take turns. Lessons are carefully planned and implemented based on assessment and individual learning styles. Learning centers such as a library center, a dramatic play center, an art center, a manipulative center and a listening center are at the core of our preschool program. The preschool curriculum promotes pre-reading and pre-math skills. In addition, we focus on building strong social-emotional and intra-personal skills as well as self-esteem and confidence in a group setting. Our main goal is for your child to finish our program with the skills, foundation, and a love of learning that is essential for their future success in school. Our teachers are patient, have a great sense of humor and have created an atmosphere that is conducive to safe, engaging, social exploration.
Before & After School Care
Our before and after-school care program is a perfect transition for children who are preparing their day for school or just finishing up from their school day. The children may attend before school, after school, and during school closings or vacation. This action packed program offers a variety of activities that challenge kids to develop new skills, self-reliance, and responsibility. In addition, children gain time to relax, develop friendships, and interact with caring adults in a family like atmosphere. Computers, homework help, meals, snacks, and field trips are included.
Our summer program is without a doubt one of the most memorable times in a child’s life. Throughout the summer our campers participate in a variety of fun activities that include field trips, swimming, sports-clinics, dance, drama, and a host of others. Our summer routines keep children active and moving which results in restful nights and early awakenings with excitement for the new day.

Art development is important for children because it teaches them to be independent and think for themselves. It also teaches the gross motor and fine motor skills.
Play is the work of children. It consists of those activities performed for self-amusement that have behavioral, social, and psychomotor rewards. It is child-directed, and the rewards come from within the individual child; it is enjoyable and spontaneous.
